Is perhaps the best place to go for a burger meal in Calgary. Peter’s Drive-In is very popular and legendary for producing mouth-watering burgers and milkshakes. This is why the lines on their drive-thru are always jam-packed day and night.
Unlike other burger restaurants, Peter's make their own patties from scratch. Ingredients used for making patties are always fresh daily (they don’t use “frozen” patties) This is why the taste and quality of their food stands out. Foods are always hot when served. Hot, crisp fries and onion rings make the perfect addition for a great meal.

$$$ - $30 - $50
Is one of the most popular spot in Calgary for steaks. Wellington’s has a unique way of showing-off how they cook steaks – literally! What I meant is that you can actually see how your steak is being cooked. Steaks are grilled in a glass enclosed booth for everybody’s viewing pleasure. You’ll be sure that your steak is cooked the way you want it. Of course a great Alberta steak is not complete without a glass of wine – choose amongst their wide selections of fine wine.
They also offer seafood, chicken, lamb and pork for lunch and dinner. If you are a vegetarian, this place is not for you. The price of a meal is pretty reasonable. An entree goes from $22.00 to $52.00. The service is really good and the restaurant is very family friendly.

Located near Chinook Mall along Macleod Trail, Smugglers is a treat for everybody. They are known for serving the best mouth-watering prime rib and steaks. My personal favorite from the menu is their Mate’s cut. However, their BBQ Back Ribs by far the most delicious and very tender I’ve tasted. The place is very nice and clean. Lights are dimmed for that romantic feeling. I highly recommend this place if you are a prime rib or back rib lover.

Locations:
2840 Memorial Drive SE

$$ - $20 - $30
Is founded in Toronto Canada (1954). Majority of its restaurant operates in Canada and only two are in the US (both in Buffalo New York). The barbeque ribs and rotisserie chicken combinations are the main draw. The combinations can be either rotisserie ¼ Chicken and 1/3 rack BBQ ribs; or ¼ chicken and half rack BBQ ribs. Choose from their side dishes such as: french fries, baked potatoes, rice, salads or vegetables. A meal comes complete with white or multigrain bread and coleslaw.
Aside from ribs and rotisserie chicken, they also serve sandwiches, chicken quesadilla, chicken wrap, salads, and fresh vegetable stir fry and for dessert, a Swiss Alps Chocolate Layer is a sure hit. My wife and I celebrated some of our special occasions there.
Price: $15 to $30 CAD

Bolero is a Brazilian Style of Steak house where Gaucho chefs bring out skewers of sizzling fire-roasted meats to carve at your table. The fun part about Bolero is that you control the Gaucho chefs with wooden green-red side signal. How it works is like traffic sign, green means delicious various fire roasted meats keep on coming while red means they don’t come. My experience with Bolero was very fun because I constantly forgot to turn the signal from green to red, so I end up with a full plate of delicious meats. Bolero is great place and a fun experience.

Is one place I go to satisfy my sushi cravings. They are conveniently located along MacLeod Trail South. The place mimics traditional Japanese setting complete with fine furniture and a very clean washroom. Their specialty is the Love Boat and All-You-Can-Eat. The Love Boat is a combination of sushi, sashimi, rolls and tempura. The amount of items in a boat varies depending on the option you select.
The All-You-Can-Eat is exactly what it says, “all you can eat”. The sushi BUFFET starts daily from 4pm to 9pm in the evening. (You have enough time to indulge and satisfy yourself!)
If you are not in a mood for raw stuff, ask your server for menu and choose cooked items. The place has a very family friendly atmosphere.
Kinjo
$$ - $20 - $40
Kinjo is another place to go for a wonderful sushi meal here in Calgary. It is conveniently located along Macleod Trail South and very close to Chinook Mall. The food here tastes awesome and the staffs are very friendly. They don’t serve buffet, however, their sushi plates are more than enough to fill you up.
They also serve sushi boats if you want more variety. The place is well maintained. Their main kitchen is located in the center of the restaurant where you can view how they make your sushi.

Love Japanese food but on the Go?
$ - $20 less
Is a good place for quick take-out Japanese foods. They serve rice bowls, noodles, and yah sushi. I really like their bento. A bento tray is a combination of rice, teriyaki (chicken or beef), sushi or tempura with miso soup and salad on the side. The price is pretty good as well.
I find the service very friendly and prompt. However place is not ideal for a romantic date. The size of the restaurant is small while setting is pretty normal.
The price of a bento combination will cost you no more than $15.00. There are two convenient locations in Calgary south and downtown.

Regency Palace is a great place to have Chinese food here in Calgary. One of their special is their dim sum. They have 38 delicious dim sum items for you to enjoy. They even make it easy for you to appreciate their tasty dim sum. Server goes around pushing carts full of different items for you to choose from. Talk about royal treatment!
Another specialty is their Hot-Pot (fresh meat, seafood and vegetables submerged into a boiling beef broth. However, this is only seasonal (from mid Sept – early May). This is how this works. On your table, they will prepare a pot of boiling beef broth complete with heat while you go and choose from their 48 fresh items according to your liking. Ask about their different kinds of sauce available to enhance the taste of your food.
Not in the mood for waiting and cooking your own food? a dinner buffet close by is available for your enjoyment. If the buffet, dim-sum or hot-pot does not appeal to you, ask your server for a menu to see ALaCarte and Chef Specials.
Welcoming lions, a good luck fountain and luxurious oriental and western touch with intricate decorations will greet you when you enter Regency Palace. I love the way it was set up!

My love for authentic Chinese food is truly remarkable. That is why I don’t settle for few places to satisfy my desire for the best Chinese food. Buffet Yangtze is another place that I go to. It is conveniently located inside the Deerfoot Outlet Mall. They have huge buffet selection including dim-sum, ginger beef, sweet and sour chicken, noodles, spring rolls, salads, wanton soups, pastry, deserts and many more. My favorites are the dumplings and dim sum. The service is pretty decent. The setting is not as decorative for a Chinese restaurant. Other than that, the food makes up for it.
After saving a lot of money shopping at the Deerfoot Outlet Mall and feeling great about it, why don’t treat your self for a great feast.

Soup in Calgary
Why soup? Well it is a great equalizer for cold weather here in Calgary. Tasty soup belongs to the Vietnamese; they are famous for best beef noodle soup in the world. I had my first taste of Vietnamese beef noodle soup when I was 20 years old and the rest is history. The main ingredients of the soup consist of rice noodles, beef broth, thin slices of beef, onions, bean sprouts, cilantro and spices. Choose from their different add-ons to boost the taste of your soup.
You can also try their barbecue lemon grass chicken and pork together with fried or steam rice they form a great meal. Finally, don’t forget to try a Vietnamese sub. This sandwich is fresh, delicious and unique.
In Calgary, there are two places I normally go for a nice warm Vietnamese beef noodle soup, Golden Bell Saigon and Bolsa Vietnamese Restaurant.

This is where I go for beef noodle soups and Vietnamese subs. The service is very fast. They have friendly staff to serve you always. The food is really good and each serving portions are more than substantial. My favourite is their special noodle soup. It has more ingredients for just about the same price of a regular beef noodle soup. The place is really neat, clean and conveniently located to in front of Chinook Centre.
